LIBERTY – Sammie Wyatt Stansell, 84, husband of 52 years to Betty Jean Nix Stansell, passed from this life Friday, November 9, 2012.

Sammie was born in Pickens County, a son of the late Samuel and Owie Wyatt Stansell. He was retired from the Glenwood Division of Mayfair Mills in Easley. Sammie was a U. S. Navy veteran and a member of Pickens View Wesleyan Church where he was a member of the C. G. Shirley Sunday School Class. He was an avid golfer and fisherman.

In addition to his parents, Sammie was preceded in death by his brothers, Frankie Stansell and David Stansell and sisters, Jessie Mae Trull, Mellie Skinner, Mildred Ketchum, Edna Lovett, Ruth Crowe, Ruby Whitworth, Doris McCue, and Colander Stansell.

Funeral services will be conducted 3:30 PM Sunday at Pickens View Wesleyan Church with Reverend John Cole and Reverend Foster Gentry officiating. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Park and Gardens.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 PM Saturday at Dillard Funeral Home in Pickens.
