• A large crowd showed up at Easley City Hall to learn details about the new Federal Housing Act, that would provide low-interest loans for periods up to 20 years, for the purpose of building a home. Easley Bank was the local administrators of the program.
• S.C. Gov. Olin Johnston said that the proposed federal ‘old age pension’ would be too much of a financial burden for the state to carry, as each state would be required to match $20 per month for each dependent age 65 and older.
• Billy King, Senior Class president at Easley High School, presented a silver cup to EHS principal James Brice as a gift from the class for Brice’s son, James Clowney Brice Jr..
• Wedding announcements were printed for:

• Parents, students and teachers spoke out against the closing of East End Elementary Dr. Dexter Rogers said that no final decision had been made.
• Combined Utilities approve the purchase of $180,000 worth of low-pressure sodium lights. The new lights would save Combines Utilities 60 percent in electricity consumption.
• The Pickens County Library was awarded $5,000 for a new micro-computer project.
• Rep. Larry A. Martin introduced a bill in the S.C. House of Representatives to abolish parole for convicted murderers.
