POWDERSVILLE – Anderson County councilmember, Ken Waters, utilized Town Hall meetings as a valuable forum for public discussion in 2012 and looks to continue that trend in the future.

“It allows me to get in touch with everyone and it gives them the opportunity to voice their problems, and if they have any problems, it will allow me the opportunity to help them fix it,” Waters said.

Waters expects to continue the success of Town Hall meetings in early 2013.

“We will probably start the meetings again in February because January will probably be a busy month for the county getting things started. Right now, I do not know any of the subjects because we usually go in there and allow the people to control the issues we talk about and find out what the community’s problems are, “Waters said.

According to Waters, Town Hall meetings should provide a good start for local projects.

“We are probably going to get a good start on planning Dolly Cooper Park. They have started construction on the kayak launch, and hopefully, we can get some people together and figure out what kind of plan we want to put together up there,” Waters said.

Waters believes that Town Hall meetings can offer the complete view of a community.

“One person can’t see everything, and a lot of times there are conversations taking place that I am not a part of and a Town Hall meeting gives people the chance to come out and let me know what is on their mind. Obviously, some of the problems we have an answer for and sometimes we have to do a little investigating to get an answer. It gives us the opportunity to avoid moving in ten different directions and we can all get together and move in one direction,” Waters said.
