PICKENS COUNTY- Pickens County voters may be voting at a different place for the Nov. 6 General Election.

According to the Pickens County Registration and Elections Commission, voters during the 2008 election year experienced wait times of several hours.

As a result, precinct changes were made to lower the amount of registered voters at each precinct to below 1,500.

“State law recommends no more than 1,500 voters at each precinct, so we are expecting citizens to have a much shorter waiting period in 2012 as opposed to 2008, and we are expecting an 80 percent voter turnout,” said Director of the Pickens County Registration and Elections Commission, Rodney Allen.

New registration cards have been mailed to all registered voters in Pickens County notifying them of which precinct they will be assigned to.

“Voters should make sure they look over their new registration cards thoroughly to see where they are voting,” said Allen.
