But it wasn’t to be.
Puerto Rico opened up a 7-0 lead in the first inning, then held on to take a 10-0 win in seven innings. Winning pitcher was Kelvin Rios. Losing pitcher was Ivan Delemarre.
Anthony Torres began the big inning for Puerto Rico by hitting a single to third base. Estaben Tresgallo then hit a sacrifice fly, allowing Torres to score. Roberto Martinez then hit a double, driving Perez in for Puerto Rico’s second run.
Joshua Correa singles, driving Martinez in for Puerto Rico’s third run.
Victor Claudo then drew a base on balls, and moving Correa to second. Joseph De La Torre then singled to score Correa, giving Puerto Rico a 4-0 lead.
Kevin Siaca then singles, driving Claudio in for Puerto Rico’s fifth run.
Harold Diaz then singled, allowing De La Torres and Kevin Siaca to score, giving Puerto Rico a 7-0 lead after one inning.
In the top of the fourth inning, Joshua Correa hit a solo home run, improving Puerto Rico’s lead to 8-0.
In the fifth inning Roberto Martinez scored from third off a single hit by Joseph De La Torre.
In the seventh inning, Victor Claudio hit a single, then moved to third base off Joseph De La Torre’s double. Kevin Siaca then hit a ground out that allowed Claudio to come home to earn the 10-0 margin.
Puerto Rico now awaits the winner of tonight’s game between South Carolina District 7 and South Carolina District One.
