ANDERSON – A man with family connections in Easley was found dead Saturday at the Stay Lodge on 110 Extended Lane in Anderson County.

James Henry Cobb of Columbia was found dead in his hotel room early Saturday morning. Edward Wenzel, 60, was arrested Sunday and charged with murder and possession of a deadly weapon during the commission of a violent crime.

Cobb has family in the Easley area, according to police reports.

Wenzell appeared at a bond hearing but was not granted bond. Wenzel’s address was not available at press time.

Cobb was shot once above his chest and a second shot severed his aorta, leading to his death, according to Anderson County Deputy Coroner Charlie Boseman.

Cobb had been staying at the extended stay hotel for about two months while doing contracted electrical work.

As more details become available, they will be posted at www.theeasleyprogress.com.
