O’Shields signs with Erskine volleyball program

PICKENS — Pickens High School is coming off a stellar year on the volleyball court and senior Brianna O’Shields is seeing the result of all that hard work.O’Shields, who played middle and outside hitter for the Lady Blue Flames, signed a National Letter of Intent with Erskine College on April 22, and is hoping to elevate her game.How will her success at the prep level help with college volleyball?“I think it’s definitely prepared me for college, and I’m ready to get competitive at the college level,” she said. “I worked out with the team and it’s a different game in college. They are in great shape, I was winded pretty quick, but it’s going to be a challenge.”

 

Drug take-back day is Saturday

The Drug Enforcement Administration is holding a National Prescription Drug Take-Back Day from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at two locations in Pickens County and one location in Anderson County.During this time, residents can bring unused, unwanted or expired prescription pills for disposal, no questions asked.
