POWDERSVILLE—The Powdersville High football team has just one last chance to secure a win in its first-ever varsity season.

The Patriots picked up their ninth loss of the year last Friday, falling to Carolina Academy by a score of 48-27.

The loss to Carolina marked Powdersville’s sixth region loss this year.

The Patriots have struggled to find any offense in recent weeks, dealing with injuries to key positions. Powdersville quarterback Jordan Smith has not been able to lead his team down the home stretch due to an elbow injury.

Despite the winless record, Head Coach Robert Mustar and the Patriot coaching staff feel confident that good things are still yet to come. Without a senior on the roster, Mustar will get a group of experienced players back next season, and the head coach says he knows his team will start winning games, whether it is this season or the next.

“We’re not done yet,” said Mustar. “We still play Blacksburg to wrap it up. I think when it’s all said and done, we’ll be able to look back and notice that our kids did some pretty special things.”

Powdersville wraps up its season at home against Blacksburg this Friday.

Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m.
