CLEMSON — The Clemson Police Department is investigating the death of a 50-year-old man who was found floating in Lake Hartwell at S.C. 153 in Clemson, officials said.

Deputy Coroner Gary Duncan said James Davis, of 106 Fruster St. in Clemson, was reported missing around 1:30 p.m. July 29. He was last seen around 10:30 a.m. July 28 walking near the U.S. 76/S.C. 123 bridge.

The Clemson Police Department received a call around 5:30 p.m. Tuesday that there was a body floating in the water at Lake Hartwell near the same bridge.

Davis was found by a family member who was looking for him at a common shoreline fishing spot that they frequented, according to a release from the Clemson Police Department.

Davis was pronounced dead at the scene.

The body was taken to GHS for an autopsy. The death is being investigated by the Clemson Police Department.
