ANDERSON — The Anderson County Environmental Educator met with a group of preschoolers from Concord Baptist Church at the Anderson County Recycling Education Center for a short lesson on recycling and a tour of the facility.

The children were able to take their bottles, cans, and newspapers to the recycling bins and throw them in themselves. Lead teacher Elizabeth Cauley brought a group of 20 children and eight adult chaperones for the visit.

The children were given jump ropes, litter bags, and a pencil, all made from recyclables to show some of the many products which can be made from recycled materials. A recycling container was given to the teacher for the class to use in the future.

Schools, civic groups, or other organizations in Anderson County who would like to learn more about recycling and litter prevention will be provided with these programs free of charge.

Julia Barnes, the Environmental Educator, can be reached at the Anderson County Solid Waste Department 864-260-1001 or by email at jlbarnes@andersoncountysc.org.
