Two people were arrested in a house raid conducted by the Troup County Sheriff’s Office that resulted in the recovery of a plethora of stolen articles and drugs on Tuesday.
According to a sheriff’s report, investigators and drug agents served a search warrant at a residence on Old Hammett Road.
“This has been a part of an ongoing investigation involving our drug unit and our C.I.D unit,” said Mike Caldwell of the Troup County Sheriff’s Office.
“The investigators handled the burglary side of it and of course the drug unit was handling the drugs.They just all happened to intersect at this particular residence.”
The report said that during the search warrant, investigators recovered numerous stolen articles and illegal drugs.
“Construction related items, yard work related items, tillers and that sort of thing,” Caldwell said.
“An undetermined amount of guns were stolen. We’ve already confirmed that. Some ammunition that was stolen from burglaries as well as an undetermined amount of drug paraphernalia.”
The report said that Vanessa Yoon, 34, of LaGrange and Michael Smith, 32, of LaGrange were the only two that were charged during this raid. Warrants were issued for the homeowner, Benjamin McCurdy, 27, of LaGrange who was not in custody at the time of this report.
Yoon was charged with possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, possession of methamphetamine and possession of marijuana. Smith was charged with possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, possession of methamphetamine and criminal attempt to manufacture marijuana.
