PICKENS — The Pickens County Museum of Art & History will hold Winter Studio Art Sessions beginning Feb. 4. Instructor Renee Gillespie has a bachelor’s degree in Art from Washington College in Chestertown, Md., and also studied at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago.


Adult Painting Class


The Adult Painting Class is open to those who paint with acrylics or watercolors. Each student will choose the subject of their painting and will receive individual instruction at each class. Instruction will be based on the students’ skill level. Beginning painters can begin with basic painting exercises, and students will provide their own supplies. The supply list, if needed, will be given at first class. A minimum of five and a maximum of eight students can enroll.


Tuition is $88 and $78 for museum members. Classes: 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. Feb. 4, Feb. 11, Feb. 18, Feb. 25, March 11 and March 18.


Children’s Painting Class


Children’s painting skills will be encouraged as they look at and learn about different painting techniques. The children will then apply these techniques to various subjects to create their own works of art. Supplies are included in tuition. Children should wear art class clothing. A minimum of five and a maximum of eight students can enroll. Tuition is $78 and $68 for museum members. Classes: 3:30 p.m. to 4:45 p.m. Feb. 4, Feb. 11, Feb. 18, Feb. 25, March 11 and March 18. For youth ages 8 to 12.


Pre-registration is required. Tuition must be paid prior to the first class. No refunds after start of class.
