PICKENS COUNTY — A 51-year-old Greenville woman remains in the Pickens County Detention Center on a murder charge in connection with the shooting death of her husband last week.

Rebbecca Lee Easterling, of 27 Shamrock Circle in Greenville, was charged with murder and possession of a weapon during a violent crime. Bond was denied on both charges.

Harold Anthony Arnold, 49, was found deceased in his bed around 4:15 a.m. Friday at #342 Belt Road in Easley.

Initial information from a 911 call advised that a shooting had occurred and that one person was injured from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

Sheriff’s deputies arrived on the scene and were met by the victim’s wife who stated that Arnold had committed suicide while she was in another part of the residence. No other individuals were inside the home at the time the shot was fired.

A 9mm handgun, believed to be the weapon used in the incident, was recovered at the scene.

An intensive investigation throughout the day determined that the incident had been staged to appear as a self-inflicted injury and it was determined that Arnold had been intentionally shot one time in the head by Easterling, his estranged wife.
