LIBERTY — The Liberty Red Devils are moving on in the playoffs following their 10-7 win against the Central Eagles on Friday.

Tensions were running high in Liberty after neither team managed to put up any points on the scoreboard the first quarter but early in the second, the Devils drew first blood with a 36-yard field goal by Austin Kemp.

Liberty defense held the Eagles at bay for much of the second but Davonta Robinson of Central evaded a tackle and bolted 77 yards for a touchdown. The extra point was good and Central briefly took a 7-3 lead with less than three minutes left in the half.

If the game momentum changed, it wasn’t for long: Liberty answered Central’s trip to the house with one of their own when Cole Murphy rushed 19 yards across the goal line.

Following the extra point, Liberty held the lead 10-7 at the end of the half — and for the rest of the game.

The Red Devils move up in the brackets to take on Blacksburg on Nov. 25.

Blacksburg (10-2, 3-1) defeated Keenan 20-14 to secure their spot in game 2 of the win or go home series. They are currently ranked 107 in the state.

Kick off for Liberty at Blacksburg is this Friday, Nov. 25 at 7:30 p.m.
