ANDERSON COUNTY — The Anderson County Library System is holding its inaugural Electric City ComiCon – a free afternoon event for all ages from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. Aug. 8 at the Main Library, 300 N. McDuffie St.

The event will celebrate superheroes, comics, science fiction, literacy, and art. Events include Q&A sessions with authors, artists, and cosplayers, gaming demos and tournaments, and Cosplay and Fan Art contests.

Submissions of original Fan Art are being taken until July 31. There are four age categories: children up to age 9; tweens, ages 10-13; teens, ages 14-17; and adults, age 18 and older. First, second, and third place winners and one honorable mention will be chosen in each age group.

Winners will be announced and prizes awarded at the end of the ComiCon and winners must be present to win. The winning artwork will be displayed at the Main Library and on the library system’s social media platforms.

Artwork can be dropped off at the Main Library, any branch library, or the Mobile Library.
