LIBERTY – Liberty City Council members voted Monday night to spend $15,000 to repair ball field lights at the recreation department.
Councilman Dwight Yates entertained a motion to match the county’s $15,000 for ball field improvements. Councilman Josh Harrison made the second.
“This money will include the lights and fence,” Yates said. “The old fence down there is a safety issue. It is turning up and has been there for some time.”
Councilmen Rick Clark told council that the money would also be used to fix dangerous light poles that were brought in.
“Some of the light poles are not up to safety standards,” he said.
The motion to match the county’s $15,000 amount carried with a unanimous vote. Mayor Brian Deese and Councilman Brian Peterson were not in attendance and did not vote.
