Roach named Assistant Superintendent of Administration

PICKENS — Dr. William Roach Jr. has been named the new Assistant Superintendent of Administration for the School District of Pickens County.

As Assistant Superintendent of Administration, Roach will oversee three district-wide departments: Financial Services, Operations, and Accountability and Information Technology Services. He will also be the district office’s primary contact for all principals and program directors.

Roach comes to SDPC from Greer Middle College Charter High School, where he served as Principal and Executive Director since 2010. In his role at Greer Middle College, Roach was responsible for both the instructional and financial sides of the school’s operations.

He carries 22 years of experience in education to his new role. Prior to heading Greer Middle College, Roach was the principal of Berea High School from 2003-2010. He also served as an Assistant Principal at Berea High School and Woodmont High School, and he worked as an Administrative Assistant at Greenville High School. He began his career as a social studies teacher and coach at Greenville High School in 1992.

He holds a B.A. in Political Science and a Master of Arts in Educational Administration, Supervision, and Leadership from Furman University. He also holds an Ed. S. in Educational Leadership and a Ph. D. in Education Leadership from the University of South Carolina.

Roach’s honors and memberships include being named an Outstanding Young American, Danforth Fellow, Kappa Delta Pi Academic Society, South Carolina Association of School Administrators, Who’s Who Among American Teachers and Administrators, and the Greer Chamber of Commerce Board. He has also worked since 1994 as a counselor for Broyhill Leadership Services.
