PICKENS COUNTY – Sheriff’s deputies are on the lookout for a man suspected of breaking into a home Wednesday afternoon.
According to Pickens County Sheriff, Rick Clark, Christopher Cory Vaughn, 35, of 1106 O’Neal Street in Belton is suspected of burglary and is facing three warrants for his arrest including simple larceny, first degree burglary, and failure to stop for a blue light.
Clark said the suspect is believed to have burglarized a home on Six Mile Highway.
“The subject came home to 3608 Six Mile Highway Wednesday afternoon at 1:30 p.m.,” the sheriff said. “He saw a white male leaving his house with stolen items and got inside a blue Chevy. According to the victim, the suspect yelled his family was hungry as he fled the scene.”
The suspect was identified through files provided by the Department of Motor Vehicles.
“A deputy responded and saw an automobile fitting the description the victim described and attempted to stop the car but he fled,” Clark said. “The vehicle was traced to Mr. Vaughn through DMV files.”
The chase ended in Clemson where the suspect was able to evade law enforcement.
“The chase ended in Clemson,” Clark said. “With the help of the Anderson County Sheriff’s Office, we searched for him for over two hours, but we will be attempting to serve those warrants over the next day or so.”
