EASLEY – Baptist Easley has extended its reach in the community by providing another resource for women’s health.
Advanced GYN is located at Oaktree Medical Plaza in Easley and features a variety of new services including cancer prevention.
“There is a unique need amongst female patients,” said George Helmrich, chief medical officer at Baptist Easley Hospital. “There are some patients that are at a tremendously high risk for both breast and ovarian cancer and some other similar cancers. We are going to be able to save some women’s lives and prevent them from going through the heartache of cancer treatment.”
The practice will also focus on other health needs for women.
“Advanced GYN is the coming together of three very seasoned gynecologists to form a true group,” Helmrich said. “A gynecology group focuses on the care of women without the obstetrics, so it means they have a little more time to spend with the patient without being called out of the office for deliveries.”
Helmrich said the practice will include three physicians with more than 80 years of combined experience, John M. Warren Jr., MD, Henry D. Salter III, MD, and H. Randall Squires, MD.
“We have two physicians focused on menopausal medicine in Dr. Warren and Dr. Salter, and Dr. Squires will primarily focus on the cancer prevention,” he said. “Dr. Squires has a real passion for cancer prevention and he has put himself in a position to become proficient in the management of high risk patients.”
According to Helmrich, Advanced GYN’s services will go beyond the traditional practice.
“This practice is very new and Aug. 1, was day one,” Helmrich said. “They will provide all of the traditional services that you would expect from a gynecologist within the office and the practice will perform all of the major gynecologic surgeries, but what sets Advanced GYN apart from other GYN practices is its focus on menopausal medicine and cancer prevention.”
Advanced GYN will offer many gynecological services including annual exams and screening labs, breast exams with mammograms and follow up, infertility evaluation and treatment, family planning counseling, hormone replacement therapy, contraceptive counseling and management, removal of moles and skin tags, minimal invasive surgeries, medical treatment of endometriosis, vulvar disorder evaluation and treatment, hormonal and nonhormonal treatment of postmenopausal symptoms, individualized cancer prevention plans for women and men, evaluation and treatment of osteoporosis with in-office screening, and pap smears and management.
